TNEB Tariff Slab Rates 2026 — Printable PDF (Domestic & Commercial)

Format: Vector PDF (Print Ready)
⚠️ Regulatory Status Caveat

Slab rates for all consumption above 200 units (including the 201–500 unit band and all tiers above 500 units) as well as commercial (LT-V) rates are not verified against an official gazette notification. G.O. (Ms) No. 50 and TNERC Order No. 5 of 2026 concern the subsidy, not these slab rates or commercial tariffs.

⚡ Direct Answer

This free one-page PDF gives you every current TNEB (TNPDCL) domestic and commercial tariff slab in one printable reference — the 200-free-units scheme for consumers using ≤500 bi-monthly units (effective 10 May 2026), the 100-free-units baseline for consumers above that, and the commercial (LT-V) rate structure. Why a PDF, Not Just the Live Calculator?

The live online TNEB calculator is the best tool for calculating an estimated rupee bill down to the paisa. However, a single-page printable reference card serves tangible real-world needs that a smartphone browser cannot replicate:

1. Pinned Notice Board Reference

Display at residential society notice boards, apartment security desks, or commercial billing counters for instant reference by staff and residents without requiring mobile internet.

2. Transparent Tenant Billing

Share directly with tenants to verify their sub-meter portions and eliminate disputes regarding slab jumps, free unit allocations, or commercial reclassifications.

3. Senior Citizen Friendly

Print and hand to elderly family members who prefer reviewing paper documents and checking their white meter card readings manually against printed official rate tables.

4. Reliable Offline Storage

Store in your device's files app or print out for remote sites, workshops, or agricultural pump houses where mobile signal is intermittent.

What's on the Card

The reference sheet condenses Tamil Nadu's multi-layered tariff structure into four clearly demarcated, color-coded tables:

  • Domestic (LT-1A), 200 Free Units Scheme: Applicable for bi-monthly usage up to 500 units under the 10 May 2026 Government Order. Outlines 0–200 units (₹0.00), 201–400 units (₹4.70), and 401–500 units (₹6.30).
  • Domestic (LT-1A), 100 Free Units Baseline: The unchanged progressive schedule that takes over the moment consumption exceeds 500 units in a 60-day cycle. Lists all 8 progressive tiers up to ₹11.55/unit.
  • Commercial (LT-V): Rates for retail shops, private offices, clinics, and showrooms (₹6.50 for 1–100 units, ₹9.80 for units above 100, plus ₹150/kW fixed load charge and 5% electricity duty). For in-depth commercial analysis, see our TNEB Commercial Bill Calculator.
  • Worked Examples Reference: Quick reference table mapping bi-monthly consumption from 100 units to 800 units, noting that calculations above 500 units are not verified.

How to Read a Telescopic Slab Table

If you have never computed utility bills using a slab card: each row applies only to the units that fall inside that specific numerical tier, not to your total consumption.

For example, if your meter reads 350 units in a 60-day billing cycle:

  • Units 0 to 200: Free under the May 2026 enhanced subsidy (₹0.00).
  • Units 201 to 350 (150 units): Billed at ₹4.70/unit = ₹705.00.
  • Units above 350: None consumed = ₹0.00.
  • Total Bill: ₹705.00.

If you wish to model custom consumption numbers offline, our TNEB Excel Calculator Guide provides a pre-built spreadsheet with automated formula cells. For a side-by-side historical comparison between the old 100-unit and new 200-unit schemes, consult our TNEB Old vs New Tariff 2026 Guide.

Keep This Reference Card Updated

State electricity tariffs are subject to regulatory updates. The 10 May 2026 order doubling free units is a prime example of how subsidy guidelines evolve. If you print this reference card for long-term use, verify the "Updated" date printed at the top. We re-generate the PDF whenever new orders are gazetted. For live real-time rates, visit our TNEB Bill Calculator or explore our national directory at All India Electricity Tariffs.
